This past week was the first week of Sharron's second cycle of treatment. She had another large dose of chemo on Friday and took it like a champ! During the treament her oncologist updated us on her progress and recent blood tests. Really good news! First of all, she responded so well to her first treatment cycle that the doctor recommended she only have IV chemo once a week rather than twice a week. Reduced chemo is great not only for fewer trips to the hospital but hopefully means less fatigue and increased appetite. Secondly, her red blood cell count is significantly higher (meaning more healthy cells to help fight off the bad ones) which means she no longer needs the red blood-cell stimulus injection she was taking once a week. Third, calcium levels in her blood are much closer to normal, meaning the calcium is staying in her bones where it should be. Lastly, her pain has gone down significantly (almost diminished) so she can go for longer intervals on minimal pain meds.
All of these factors together are outstanding news! We're not doctors but we attribute these things to Sharron's healthy body and lifestyle before the diagnosis :) Keep up the high-intensity prayers and well wishes, they seem to be working!

This is absolutely the BEST news! I am thrilled that you are doing so well. Thank you so much for the updates - I check here often to see how you're doing. Alyssa wanted me to say hello and that she misses your smiling face at the front desk. We all do.
ReplyDeleteMuch Love,

Dear Sharron:
ReplyDeleteKathy and I were gratified to hear from Val's sister, Karen, that you were fighting the good fight, and that your strength was improving. We have you on a prayer list of very faithful prayer warriors. So, many petitions are being made for your healing and speedy recovery.
Looking at the pictures posted, I must say you are as beautiful as the first time, and the last time, we saw each other....Val's looking a little old though. Har!
When you are up to it, we would really like to visit with you guys. I apologize for letting so many years slip by with only Christmas cards.
We have always counted you among our dear friends.
God Bless!
Phil and Kathy
p.s. Please tell Val I apologize also for poking fun at him for going to church every Sunday while we were on active duty. He was right; I was wrong.
Hi Sharron-
ReplyDeleteI just read the good news and it made me smile...it sounds like the treatments are going well. Woo hoo!!!:)
It is all those blueberries you eat...and other healthy foods and the active, hip, young momma you are...
Keep those spirits up... we are sending good thoughts your way.
We are trying to decide where to send Faith for school next year...can you believe it? She is going to be 5 in August. Just had to keep you posted this way until we can have our regular morning chats in the office.
Love ya,
Koko
